Autumn is without a doubt one of the most suggestive seasons from a color perspective. There are indeed various landscapes that change their seasonal colors, inspiring great awe.
Lombardy is certainly a Region that boasts several charming places that will make every visitor happy. From mountain lovers, lake enthusiasts, to its cities full of history and art and the quiet countryside where it is possible to spend a relaxing weekend while tasting outstanding food.
Obviously, it would be impossible to name each and every single location that is worth visiting, for this reason here is a short list to help you enjoy the following destinations during the Fall.
ROCCA BORROMEO, Angera (VA)
It is considered by many as one of the most beautiful places in the Province of Varese, a splendid castle that rises on top of a rocky cliff that towers over the southern area of Lake Maggiore.
This fortress has been properly maintained and visitors can see its chambers. The structure harbors the Dolls and Toys Museum, with one of the most important collections of its kind in Europe. It will delight both children and adults.
Do not miss the beautiful Medieval Garden, which renders its Middle Ages atmosphere even more charming in this season.
On the other hand, the view from the Castle will leave visitors speechless.
CASTLE OF VEZIO, Perledo (LC)
You will find this ancient castle at the Hamlet of Vezio, which makes part of the Municipality of Perledo. A structure of ancient origins that stands over the lakeside landscape.
The legend says that Queen Theodelinde erected the Castle of Vezio alongside the oratory of Sant'Antonio as tokens of her religious devotion.
It is worth mentioning as well that children will love the falconry shows that take place inside the castle.
THE WATERFALLS OF SERIO, Valbondione (BG)
Head to Bergamo and go to the zone of Valbondione in Val Seriana. This location will be particularly preferred by mountain lovers, since the top of this waterfall sits at a 1750 meters altitutde.
Although it is originally natural waterfall, but they got hidden by the construction of the Dam of Barbellino. After an agreement with Italian power company Enel, which owns the dam, it is possible to see de opening of the dam's basin for half an hour four times a year, allowing tourists to admire the imposing sream that shapes the waterfall.
