Porta Nuova

Porta Nuova is a new district in Milan, which originated from the architectural and urban regeneration of the old districts of Isola, Varesine and Garibaldi. If you are coming from Piazza XXV Aprile and continue on Corso Como you will reach the heart of the new district with its fascinating, tall skyscrapers that soar in the sky of Milan that have completely changed the face of the area.
The Unicredit Tower is quite a spectacle, with its 85-metre antenna designed by the Argentine architect Cesar Pelli. This, like all the other buildings that complete the architectural complex, are made of glass and iron according to the principles of environmental sustainability and are arranged around a large circular plaza raised 6 metres above the street level. The square is named after the famous Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti.
The project, which is currently the largest construction site in Europe, is nearing completion and when finished will occupy a total area of 340,000 sqm, with a commercial area of 6,000 sqm, office space of 57,000 sqm , 340 luxury apartments and approximately 4,000 parking spaces. The project also includes large residential landscaped areas and pedestrian and bicycle paths.
The green M2 metro line and the new M5 purple line stop at the nearby Porta Garibaldi station.
